Isamu Noguchi Garden Museum
The New York City museum, dedicated to the life and works of sculptor Isamu Noguchi, has a sculpture garden, a gallery, and a shop featuring Noguchi's famous Akari light sculptures. The museum's director, a well-known biographer of Isamu Noguchi, had a vision to create a Web site about the artist's life and his materials.

Web Site
The Isamu Noguchi Web site acts as a comprehensive documentary about the artist's life. It includes an archive of writings by and about the artist, and an extensive biography. A custom-designed publishing tool allows for quick content updates. Commerce capabilities makes it easy for users anywhere to purchase books, gifts, sculpting tools and materials, and Akari light sculptures. The site won the Best Research Site award in 1998, at the Museums and the Web Conference sponsored by Archives & Museum Informatics.
Educational Tool
To serve the educational community, Media Farm created SculptureScape. This interactive tool lets children create custom sculpture and engage in the art-making process to actively learn how an artist works. The tool, which is found in the Tours & Education section of the Web site, allows children to modify color palettes and sculpture techniques to create and invent their own personal work of art. A scroll feature reveals different backgrounds, such as a city, desert and mountains, which helps children understand the relationship between an art object and its environment. ScuptureScape was sponsored by the New York State Council on the Arts.
