Web Site
The founder of Mixed Greens approached Media Farm with a big idea: She wanted to tap into the power of nascent technology to bring the work and lives of emerging artists to new audiences. After years of building a personal collection of art, she wanted to share that experience with others, capitalizing on technology as a means of distribution.

User Research
Initial research with Mixed Greens helped us to identify the unique needs of people who buy art. We established a list of key criteria that were essential to an audience interested in buying artwork online. These art buyers need to see large-scale images, details and clear understandable language to help them find the right piece. They also require more-than-average information on packaging and shipping, and explicit information on exchange policies.
Visual Design
The Web interface creates a sophisticated space for showcasing artwork, in a way that's accessible and intuitive. Collectors can search for work by category, such as painting, drawing and sculpture, or find work by the more whimsical "curated" categories, which organizes work by subjective criteria such as mythological, diaristic and nostalgic. A shuffle feature randomly generates five works at a time on the Art & Artists page to surface work that might pique a user's interest.
Targeted Content
Using complex technology to serve out personalized content, Media Farm helped Mixed Greens to use technology in a way that transforms a previously cloistered experience into an easily accessible one: Collectors can browse through a catalogue of art, watch videos about the artists and learn about their process, save a personal collection online, and make a purchase. User preference tracking, targeted content, a commerce engine, streaming video, and animated interface elements work together to create a new model for interaction with art.
